Detective D.D. Warren is back in
another crime thriller. A horrific
injury (trust me, it doesn’t seem like much but the descriptions of her pain
will make you cringe) at a crime scene has her off the job, but that doesn’t
mean she’s off the case. Someone is
killing women and staging their corpses to mimic a mostly forgotten serial
killer from years ago. There is no
evidence left at the scenes but there are plenty of avenues to explore
including the children of the long dead serial killer who appears to have a new
fan.
I haven’t found a Gardner book on
audio I haven’t enjoyed. This one is a
little slower paced than her other recent titles, but it is still an
entertaining listen. There are a lot of
discussions about pain, so if you think it would make you cringe you may want
to go for the print version.
